Is keratoconus hereditary?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,
My father had been diagnosed with keratoconus and had his corneal transplantation last week with the guidance of an expert in Goldberg centre vision correction in Toronto. He has better vision compared to earlier and also had relieved from the double vision problem. While browsing about this disease I read that keratoconus is hereditary and there is a chance of re-occurrence even after the surgery? Are both these statements true? I wonder whether this may happen to me also? What should I do to prevent such conditions? I need an expert advice. Please help me. Thank you in advance.
