We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual to assist with clinical research and data analysis. Who we are: Science in Vision (SiV Consulting, LLC) is a small ophthalmic research company providing analytical support to private surgeons and industry. Working with key opinion leaders and major ophthalmic companies we are engaged in activities such as preparing post-market studies from conception to manuscript preparation, analyzing clinical data, assisting with scientific marketing messages and providing technical reviews and summaries of the literature and/or conference proceedings. Who you are: You are first and foremost a clinical scientist, interested in the objective interpretation of clinical data, primarily in the area of ophthalmic surgery (i.e., cataract, refractive surgery). You enjoy working with numbers, and have a good background in physiological optics. You are familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (and, preferably, Access). You have some training in statistics. You have a professional degree (OD) or graduate degree in Vision Science, with 1-3 years of clinical or research experience. What we need: The position is an entry to mid-level research position. It will involve a significant amount of time assembling, calculating, reviewing and collating data, with the objective to appropriately interpret findings. One major activity will be assisting with routine and complex intraocular lens calculations (training will be provided). Organizing and optimizing the management of data will be important. We require an individual who can work with numbers and understand their clinical implications. Opportunities to design and manage investigator-initiated studies may be available, with publication the goal. As part of a consulting company, your ideas for new projects and initiatives will be more than welcome. Excellent command of written and spoken English is required. The ability to effectively communicate with senior level industry staff and ophthalmic surgeons is important. Science in Vision is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas and working in this vicinity would be preferred. However, as the position will be work-from-home, location may not be a limiting factor for an appropriately qualified individual. Some domestic travel may be required. Your initial 6 month engagement will be as a contractor, with full-time employment possible based on performance. Compensation is negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Productivity will be rewarded.
