How many opticians are out there ?

Hi there! I have been a retail optical owner for 17 years now (started when I was 12) LOL and I have some sources. I have found that LBI eyewear has some great prices on their own brands of lenses. Also, US Optical is currently offering some excellent prices and a "rebate" of sorts on volume. I was a little gal, now I'm probably considered a medium sized gal. Just make sure that the quality is there, no matter which lab you choose. Your reputation will dictate your future business... GOOD LUCK!!! MARILYN
  2. Hello again all, I have both the Edgemaster and Dimelp Blocker models. Coincidentally BOTH need to have the sliding acrylic plate (which has the grid for decentration of the lens), replaced. Can anyone tell me from where to get them?? Any help would be appreciated. Marilyn
  3. Can anyone tell me where I can get some parts for the Topcon Alex automatic edger? I am not familiar with the terminology, but I need the adapter thingy that has the felt (that clamps the lens during edging) It is making a mark on my lenses at around the 4 o'clock spot. I could also use some new steel tint pots, but have no idea where the place to get them at the best price would be.... Thanks to anyone who can help. Marilyn

  5. Years ago, an OD friend of mine retired and gave me a box with four different visual aids. They are plexiglass plano, with the exception of two areas for the eyes which have four powers....+3,+6,-5,and-11. They can be combined to create other powers, for example, the +3 and the -5 together to create -2. It has been a great selling tool and I've been searching for another unit for my second store for about two and a half years now. Is anyone at all familiar with this set, and if so do any of you know where I can get another? I've already tried the company and it is no longer in business. Based on the age of the OD I'm guessing this kit is circa 1965...... Anyone????? Marilyn
  6. Dr. William Miller of Patchogue, NY is retiring next week. He has expressed an interest in selling his examination lane, instruments, cabinets tables and frames. This equipment was purchased new in 1983 and he's kept it in near perfect condition. This is an AO chair and stand, hydraulic with recline feature. B&L keratometer, slit lamp, phoropter, trial lens fitting set and an assortment of miscellaneous items which can be viewed in person. This equipment is still being used today, with the exception of the slit lamp, which Dr. Miller admitted to burning the bulbs out due to leaving it on too long. Anyone starting out with a small budget, or looking to put in a second exam lane inexpensively, should JUMP at this opportunity. Dr. Miller can be reached in his office for the next two weeks with the exception of 1-2pm when he leaves for lunch. Interested parties please call 631-475-0665. He would like to have the office emptied by the end of the year. Thanks for your interest and good luck! Marilyn (TheMAZWoman)

Optical Distributor Group is a good source. Their "family" of lenses include many materials. I currently pay $1.88 per pair uncut 70mm cr39, and $4.00 per pair poly. They also have cr39 A/R UV lenses for about $8. Their number is 1-888-305-3300 ask for ERIC SCHWARTZ. He'll get you set right up.

  15. I am looking for the flex hose that attaches to the Santinelli 9000. It is 3" in diameter and has a ring that fastens to the unit itself. It looks like a dryer hose. Anyone have an extra? Also I am looking for the 3M block holder that goes into the machine itself. This is the holder that will allow us to use the Santinelli 9000, using our 1678-A 3M blocks. Can anyone help? Thanks TheMAZWoman (Marilyn)
