  1. I have a Topcon ALE 3600 edger that is probably about 12 years old. I am aware that Topcon no longer sells or services edgers, but I'm hoping someone might have some ideas to help me with the problems we are having. It has started making a high pitched squealing sound when it first starts the edging process. The lens turns very slowly, and it's almost like the carriage is putting too much pressure on the lens when it brings it down. I can hold the carriage and keep it from coming down all the way, and that helps with the noise, but isn't very practical to do all day. It has even chipped a few lenses when it switches the lens over to bevel, but fortunately that hasn't happened in a while. Any ideas? Thanks.
